New Music

98 Rock needs your help. We've been sent a lot of new music; some of the tracks have been garbage but the other tracks have great potential, possibly even song of the summer. We want your feedback on these songs. Is this band the next best thing or should we run far away instead? By going to 98Online, you can listen to clips of some of our new music and vote for which ones you like. Your feedback will directly affect which songs receive more airtime.

When you go to the 98 Rock website, scroll down to the Mobcast section (pictured below) and click on the tab that says new music.

Here's a head's up on some of the new music to look forward too.

First is Baroness who is back with a new studio album entitled Yellow & Green. Their lead single "Take My Bones Away" has been blowing up on the internet, with rave reviews from Pitchfork and The Washington Post. Click Here to listen to the full version of the song.

Next is New Medicine. These guys are hard rockers from Minneapolis who like to have a lot of fun with their music. Their latest single, "Rich Kids" is from their debut smash, Race You To The Bottom. New Medicine is also big fans of 98 Rock. They stopped by for a visit a while back to play us their first hit, "Laid". Check it out below.

Another new song to check out is "The Celestials" by rock gods The Smashing Pumpkins. The song is off their latest album, Oceania, which just came out at the end of June. The Pumpkins new tune deliver making you feel like it's 1995 again or even one of their favorite year, "1979." Click below to watch the Pumpkins perform "The Celestials" at the iheartradio Theater in New York.

Finally, make sure to check out "Figure It Out" by Serj Tankian. Serj is the lead singer of System of a Down, and just embarked on another solo project entitled Harakiri. The album is hard rocking and has been given rave reviewed from critics, many of whom praise Serj's lyrics. Check out the music video for "Figure It Out" below.

On a final note, if you are a 98 Rock Freeloader, you can receive points by Clicking Here and giving us your opinions on the new music. Thanks so much for taking the time to do this. We really appreciate your feedback.

Orion Music & More Festival

Music Festivals are invading the country. From large ones such as Bonaroo in Manchester Tennessee, to smaller local festivals such as Silopanna in Annapolis, people across the country are flocking to these festivals to see some of their favorite bands preform.

One of the many festivals popping up across the country is Orion Music & More, in Atlantic City. This was the Inaugural year for the festival, which ran June 23rd and 24th. Metallica coordinated the festival and headlined the festival, giving two stellar performances both nights. Metallica wasn't the only band to tear down the house. The Gaslight Anthem, Baroness, and Avenged Sevenfold all gave kick ass performances, and that's just a few of the many bands who performed.

Orion was very unique though because it wasn't just a music festival, it also had a "more" component. (Hence it being called Orion Music & More). Throughout the weekend, there was a custom car show, a surfing contest provided by Billabong, and several film screenings, among others adding to the fun of the weekend.

98 rock was at the festival with the hook up. We got exclusive access to performances and interviews with some of your favorite bands. Click below to listen to Stash and Steve Huber talk with The Gaslight Anthem.

Click Here to watch even more videos from Orion including interviews with Baroness and Volbeat.  98 rock also got some great pictures! Below are pictures of Metallica as well as Stash and Steve Huber with Gary Clark Jr.
Click Here to see all the photos from Orion.
Overall, Orion was a huge success. We'd like to thank Metallica for organizing the festival and we look forward to bringing you the best of Orion next year.

Slash Gets Star On Hollywood Walk Of Fame

Slash has been killing it lately. We've really been feeling his new song, "You're a Lie", which, is racing up the charts. He also was just given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Slash gave a short speech and said it was a "huge honor" to win the award. Watch the Video HERE. He was stoked because Hollywood is where he grew up, where he went to school, and where he rehearsed with Guns 'n' Roses. He has a big connection to the city. Charlie Sheen was also on hand to give his congratulations to Slash.

Slash has had a hectic schedule but even managed to stop by 98 Rock last month to chat with Mickey, Amelia and Spiegel on the morning show. Watch parts of the interview:
